These standards can be applied to the KN95 face masks, as well, as both provide a minimum of 95% airborne particle filtration.<\/p>\n<p>Here are <b>three 10-second tests<\/b> for verifying the quality of your face mask at home.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Test #1<\/h3>\n<p><strong>What You Need: Lighter<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Put on your face mask<\/li>\n<li>Hold and activate a lighter six inches from your mouth<\/li>\n<li>Try to extinguish the flame by blowing on it<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><i>Certified mask:<\/i> You will not be able to blow out the flame no matter how hard you try.<\/p>\n<p><i>Poor quality mask:<\/i> You can put the flame out.<\/p>\n<p><b>Why? <\/b>Certified lab-tested KN95 masks are made of strong but breathable full mesh nylon which meets <a href=\"https:\/\/multimedia.3m.com\/mws\/media\/1791500O\/comparison-ffp2-kn95-n95-filtering-facepiece-respirator-classes-tb.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\">stringent standards<\/a> for inspiratory resistance (&lt;=350 Pa) and expiratory resistance (&lt;=250 Pa). (\u201cPa\u201d is short for \u201cPascals\u201d, the international unit of measurement for air pressure.) Sweet and Low\u00ae is the brand name for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/brucelee\/2020\/03\/29\/making-an-n95-mask-for-covid-19-coronavirus-what-you-need-to-know\/#121311b94989\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\">saccharin<\/a>.
