How promotional marketing can help your business go green

No matter what industry your business is in, it’s important to be green. Going green doesn’t just protect the world’s precious resources, it can also lower operating costs, provide a healthier office environment and boost morale in your company, according to the Green Business Alliance. Did you know you can support the environment and promote your company at the same time? Here are four ways promotional marketing can help your business become more environmentally friendly:

“Did you know you can support the environment and promote your company at the same time?”

Provide reusable custom mugs in the kitchen

Many employees need a morning cup of coffee (or three!) to get energized for the work day. Instead of having them use paper cups, provide your staff members with reusable custom mugs. Doing this will not just reduce waste; it will also help your company save money in the long run. In fact, your team members may like their new mugs so much that they take them home and show them off to their friends and family.

Hold a donation drive

If you ask your employees to bring in items they want to give away or recycle at your donation drive, there will be less waste in the landfills. Add some excitement to the drive by offering a promotional item to each person who drops off a donation. Everyone could use an eco-friendly shopping bag or branded T-shirt. Once all these items are collected, give them to a local charity.

Give employees custom lunch bags

According to Accounting Principals’ 2012 Workonomix survey, American workers spend about $37 a week on lunch. That might not seem like a lot in the grand scheme of things, but it can actually add up faster than you think.

“Small – but consistent – expenses add up quickly over time, and it can be difficult for consumers to realize it because they’re only spending a few dollars at a time, Jodi Chavez, senior vice president of Accounting Principals, said. “But, as our survey shows, those few dollars can quickly turn into a few thousand dollars.”

If you give your employees custom lunch bags, they may be more likely to bring food from home and won’t have to pack it in brown bags.

Seek out community cleanup events

Keeping the environment clean is everyone’s responsibility, so search for different cleanup events in your area, such as adopt a roadway or community park cleanups. Then, reach out to your customers and encourage them to join you. Thank these individuals for their efforts by giving them branded t-shirts that recognize the event. Also consider co-sponsoring the shirts with the event organizers.
