School Spirit Felt Across the Internet

It is not just about what you give away, but what people are actually using and wearing that matters. Of course promotional items make the recipient feel good and appreciated. But what effect do promo items have on the people around them? For college campuses all over the country, logo items create excitement, camaraderie and a strong sense of belonging. This is perhaps one of the greatest strengths for recruiting new college students.

But, if high school seniors can’t get to the campus visit, how do you get them excited, feeling the enthusiasm of the students on campus?

Curation.
Instagram is hot and prospective college students are searching for your campus to see what campus life is like.

Don’t leave the images to chance. Look around the campus, take short videos and photos of your students wherever they are gather with the school colors and logo. Create photo and video contest with school logo apparel as rewards for the winners. Perhaps run these monthly so the content is fresh and relevant. This will provide a lot content for great images and video curated on the school’s accounts.

Live video
Video streaming apps are ubiquitous among millennials, take advantage of this. Your college has campus tours throughout the year. Buddy up your tour guides having one live stream the tour and provide color commentary while the other narrates. Highlight the school spirit being sure to pick out where the school colors, logo and mascot are appearing. Potential students get to participate from afar. Recording the live stream lets you edit a ‘best of’ compilation as well.

Of course you’ll want to be sure that the campus is showing its colors. Many colleges will have spirit days, or athletic events, which make great backdrops to live stream and still images. Providing the tour group and student body with a ‘care package’ of branded items will also show your school logo peppered throughout the landscape. Shirts, hats and drinkware are among the most popular and visible items for college promotions.

For high schoolers the visual and auditory nature of these apps are their preferred way to get information and experience places they can’t be. This means colleges and universities need to be much more cognizant of the images and videos they take and present. But, it has to be authentic…kids can tell. If your school has great spirit, you can highlight that and give the students items to express themselves so you can more easily show income freshmen classes how much they would like to join the school.
