Summer time is logo apparel sponsorship time

The weather is heating up and people are spending more time outside with different activities. Many of them are participating in local club sports like softball, basketball, and even golf is getting more popular. For companies that want to get involved in the local community, this is a great opportunity to have some fun, get your name out there and build relationships.

You probably already know about logo shirts. All these teams and organizations need uniforms, and with the club teams, this usually means a simple t-shirt. With golfing or tennis it may mean a nice polo style logo golf shirt. We’ve all seen these; they range for the company name being the team name (really pushing the sponsorship) to the company having a simple logo on the sleeve of the shirt. With many teams, you can add to this the logo baseball cap. The team name on the front and the sponsor’s name on the back. This is a great way to ensure your name is not only seen by many but that you are connecting with the community.

But it doesn’t have to stop there. Expand your connections with the spectators and families of these teams.

The simplest way is to do print overruns and have logo shirts and hats to pass out at the games. You have probably been to a minor league (or even some pro teams) where they launch apparel items into the stands between inning, before or after the game. Have some fun with the overruns and expand your impressions. You can have a contest to win, simply hand out the shirts until you run out, or follow the lead of the minor league teams and launch your logo into the stand. However you choose to do it, you’ll increase your connections and impressions.

If you are really into the team, you can add to your support. Some companies supply their teams with water bottles, promotional sunglasses or even full sized custom banners. Take the time to meet with the teams to see what they will really use, and you’ll discover opportunities to expand your involvement and community exposure.

Beyond the items, consider the event angle. Sponsor team dinners or pre/post-game parties. Does the team have a local charity that it supports? Consider working with them to enhance their ability to help… it’s always appreciated.

As summer rolls around there are countless opportunities to get involved with your town’s local sport and club teams. It’s fun, helps the community and can lead to deeper ties and better business.
